MUMBAI: Umang 2009, the festival organised by Narsee Monjee College, revved up on Friday with events like coffin designing, JAM, and actor hunt. The swine flu scare had temporarily slammed the brakes on the festival that started on August 12, following the state directive to shut educational institutions. It resumed again on Thursday and it will end on Saturday.
"We have a workforce of 500.
It's only been three days and we have already had around 16,000 visitors. We expect footfalls of around 40,000,'' said Namrata Patel, a committee member .
One of the biggest attractions on Friday was the War of VJs. Also continuing on Friday was RetroSpectrum, a workshop which had speakers like Luke Kenny and motivational speaker Priya Kumar.
"Although this is the third day of Umang, it feels like a fresh start,'' said Pranav Gupta, a student. `Pehel' was an innovative undertaking involving young minds to come up with ideas to solve economic problems of rural India.
Events scheduled for Saturday include the finals for War of the DJs, the Guitar Wars, and Mossiqui (Sufi singing), including an appearance by Khalid Mohammed in the RetroSpectrum workshop.
